Bob, this is certainly sad, but it is very beautifully written. I love the way you used metaphors, and also am fascinated for some reason by the seventh and eighth lines, where you use "whole" and then "part", but with a different meaning of "part" than I would have expected.

Anyway, I guess I'm rambling. I did enjoy this. I'd like to see more like it from you.
