I was sitting at a friends
Just playing some cards
When something crashed loudly
In the darkened yard

Saying not to worry
One grabbed a forty-five
From the closet shelf
Hurried to see what was outside

A glass of cold water
Dumped on my head
Or a slap on the face
Couldn't have had the same effect

I blocked out the morning
We went to your parents
Just to talk and visit
But only one of us left

We chatted with your mom
In the foyer for a bit
Then you went to your room
I told you I'd be right in

Your stereo came on
The music was loud
I hugged your mom and dad
Left to tell you to turn it down

My hand was on the door knob
Everything was okay
Then time froze for a life-time
It seemed like, that day

I was turning the handle
When the gun-shot was heard
Your parents came running
But I was there first

I stopped them from seeing
What I managed to block out
Had them call an ambluence
Calmed your mothers shouts

These images flashed in my mind
I was told my face paled
And that I was screaming
When I came back to myself

I knew you had died
And I know I knew how
But I managed not to remember
Until another gun was pulled out

January 7, 2000
A year ago last week
Since I've remembered
I can't seem to fall asleep

What if I had gone in
Just a minute before
Or hurried a little faster
To open that closed door

My hearts hurting a lot
To much going on in my head
I keep seeing you alive
Then that last time, dead...

How does a friendship
That seems so great
End in such a way
I'm losing all faith.
In Memory of Jim

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.

BWA,
I know your pain and can only wish you the best tomorrow.  There is no greater pain than that of losing a cherished friend, especially when you think you could've done something to stop it.  But you couldn't have.  I have lost 8 good friends to suicide in the last 3 1/2 years, and I will tell you from experience that once you hit rock bottom, you can only go up.  Tears as I am typing this, tried so hard to block out the memories, they only get easier as you go along on the road of life.   Remember, 'we like to think we operate the loom that weaves the future, but the only foot on that treadle is the foot of fate.' -D.K. *HUGS*  Awww BWA!  There is nothing I can say to lessen your grief, I know.  Losing a friend in such a tragic way is heartbreaking.  I hope, in time, your grief might gradually dissapate--although I know you will never really forget.  *HUGS* from the 'Lil' Ewok!

it is indeed sad when one's despair is stronger than one's will to live..this was not your choice..suicide(in my opinion) is the ultimate selfish act..by unburdening yourself of your problems, you dump them on your loved ones. I hope your pain eases soon..
