Poor Richard, all you ever wanted was a hairdressing salon.
Do you still remember those days long gone?
Do you remember looking out your window on the plane?
seeing the lonely soldiers trudging through the rain?
What a send off you boys had,
seeing the photos makes me sad,
for you never came back,
all babies in black.
They thought you'd stepped out of your "place"
and what John said (gasp) such a disgrace.
Even though he spoke the holy truth,
americans just looked for an excuse.

To the young they really were almost gods
with trilling notes and mop top nods.
The color of Georgie's car? Who can say?
It changes color every day.
They should have remembered what he said
*"It's all in your head"*.

Paul they said, was the sweetest indeed,
for who can deny "love is all ya need"?
i would have given a thousand tomorrows
to have a few years past to borrow,
oh,i wish i'd been born long ago
and seen their first apperance on the ed sullivan show.

not sure what this is,it's kinda silly, but what can i say? Always will love them
P.S.
Which one was your favorite? Mine's George =] lol

very cleverly done..though I'm partial to the Eagles myself..

SF....

Although this is so delightful...I love it, I was struck by this line ...

I would have given a thousand tomorrows,
To have a few years past to borrow.

Very powerful words.

Best
p.s. my favorite is Paul

Nice blast back to the past...the anniversary of the day John died wasn't too long ago.  Silly, but an interesting view on that era.  Great Read!

I saw them, too.  My favorite is Paul.

First off..I will NEVER get over your nick for the forums..*L*

Secondly...I remember the night John was shot..I woke up early in the morning...and heard my uncle (( he was livin with us at the time )) crying...it was first time I ever saw a man cry.....it wasn't until one of my favorite musicians..Rich Mullins... died..that I finally understood.

Mom taught us how to sing using the Beatles...and in so many ways..neither of them are dead...even though I miss them.

Great poem m'dear  thanks.

well thanks again dopey and sol =]John had some big things to say,to bad it had to end the way it did,i would have liked to have heard the rest. I think he would have lived a very long life and i don't think he would ever have stopped writing and making music.

I was only just born a few months earlier when John died, and hearing about it in retrospect made me extremely sad.  I was raised in a house where Beatles records were constantly being played, and thus grew up listening to the lads.  Folks thought I was weird when I was in school, but I think we'll get the last laugh--I mean, who's gonna last longer: the Beatles, or the latest teen craze?

p.s.  My favorite is George--the man was and is a guitar genius.

amen gofor!! I'm 16 and i'm not supposed to be a beatles fan either, but i think the new stuff is idiotic and the kids my age are stark raving mad.Okay well i respect their musical opinions, but it's just not my cup of tea. The Beatles were pure genius at times. Thanks for your comments =]

LOL I heard more Beatles than I could handle with two older sisters ! No wonder I was (and still am) a Stones fan.   But yeah..yeah..yeah...they were pretty good. I still like the music from Paul.
Oh and you can be a Beatle fan these days... I have a fourteen year old daughter who is completely addicted to Queen !
