On the road

i imagine a forest like dream huge
deep emerald greens scarlet birds and butterflies
rise up at my presence
wild foaming streams pound cool water on my head
shiny wet green plants everywhere whisper in the wind

i imagine a volcano spurting pure crimson to the sky
wild rivers of heat rumble to the sea
and the air is alive with power

i imagine the city world of mega highways
grey dust landscapes of whirring engines
all going precisely nowhere
batteries running on empty
dollar signs in every eye

i imagine the cool serenity of deep space
the slow eternal motion of the stars

and i wake up thirteen and a dreamer of visions
lost in dreams and visions now as then
dreaming of a life much better
of dreams soaring
and stardust drifting down
to me here on reality's floorboards

still hoping for magic
buried in our everyday lives
as we wander the world

This is a real thought-inspiring poem, I think, and I like the progression from a deep forest all the way to deep space... kind of "evolutionary" in a way. But all the same, thoughts in the mind of a child. Very interesting, very nice.

interesting how the dreams may change but, never the dreamer.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost
