The evening sings …its gentle song The stars the choir… the moon looks on A breeze fulfilling …whispers now And gently calms by anguished brow The trees sway to the rhythm soft I slowly cast my eyes aloft My heart pounds quietly to the beat The sound of treading …nature’s feet An Owl in harmony joins the call Creatures scamper……. to the fall Of gold hewed leaves their summer gone As silence sinks the day is done As daytime borrows nights black veil Silver horizons clouding pale It wraps itself in soft moonlight And seeks the solace of the night I too seek……refreshing sleep And in my heart my secrets keep And when the dawn casts night away With joyous soul I’ll greet the day And once again to tread the path To sing life’s’ song to raise the staff To greet the day…. a journeys start To live it with impatient heart Jon Mewett [This message has been edited by Jon Mewett (edited 11-13-2000).] |

I don't know what else to call this poem besides 'harmonious.' Has a nice ring to it--but of course your piece is more like a glass harmonica compared to that little ring. ![]() Little Spyro T. yes, I agree..a fine smooth rhythm to it..lovely. the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

"To live it with impatient heart". Carpe diem! This gives me a lift, on a depressing day. Thanks, Jon. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

Jon, I enjoyed every line of this piece, thank you! Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

Jon; Another beautiful poem from yout pen and gifted way with words. Seize the day, even though the heart be impatient for love. Ellie Belief is a truth held in the mind; faith is a fire in the heart. Joseph Fort Newton |
