I'm heartsick, Ill from loneliness. Like a disease, It ravages my body and spirit Until nothing is left. It leaves me stricken And wasted, And only a machine keeps me alive. This sickness is fatal, And the cure is not within my grasp. So here I lie in clean linen, Made with hospital corners, Doomed by this debilitating destroyer. Rush me to the hospital, Pump me full of vaccines and vitamins. None of it will work. My only hope lies in your hands And beyond my reach. This is kind of different for you, but I like it. There's no worse kind of sickness. Get well soon. To love another person is to see the face of God. - Les Miserables Marilyn |

Yeah, I felt like trying a different kind of poem, an attempt to get away from the cynical and pessimistic satire I tend to write lately. Actually, a lot of my early stuff was like this. "If you can't annoy somebody, there's little point in writing." --Kingsley Amis |
