I’m an industrial electrician by trade,
A regular card carrying “Ohms Lawyer”,
But given a choice to do it over again,
I might be more like Tom Sawyer!

Living my life on the Mississippi banks,
Adventures on ships hauling freight,
Listenin’ to the river folk spinnin’ their tales,
Oh, wouldn’t that life be just great!

Catching some fish and cookin’ it fresh,
On some wonderful deserted river island,
Communing at night with the countless stars,
Just layin' back with a contented smile!

The whispering river breeze dancing about,
The river noise wafting on its’ shoulders,
Smoke from the campfire joins in the dance,
As the fire slowly ebbs into smolders!

Ah, that would be the life to live,
Perhaps in my next lifetime I will,
For now I’ll just be as an electrician,
‘Cause that’s what’s paying my bills!

Hey, Bro, you forgot your straw hat, which of course would be perfect on this job! I really like this one. So many vivid images and it sure does sound like a dream job, oh well, in another life, as you said. Sis

Hi Dennis,
Ah! This just rolled off the tongue! Really great read. You can write anything and your flair of humor shines through this as well.  Enjoyed.  Marcy

Old electricians don't die. They just blow a fuse.
River Livin'. That would be the life. But, as you say, we must pay bills to keep a wife.

Going with the flow,
At least in your dream,
A vacation of the mind--
Or just so it seems!
Dream on my dear Brother
But keep your mind free while working
They don't need no cross-wiring
Nor the High voltage quite shocking!

Enjoyed your little poetic daydream,
            David

WOW- another day of life-and here among friends!

I enjoyed sharing your dream, the images are great! Made me wish I could do that too...But didn't Tom Sawyer have to white-wash fences?

I'd love to do something like this

Sometimes you have to let go and move on,
But never let go of the memories.
