Hand of Savior

The others do not want you around
ugliness crashes, ripping you down.
Casual, simple word; turn of back, left out laugh
suddenly the pit opens, screaming as you fall.

Down, down, down, forever falling
tumbling in misery, loneliness overwhelming.
Alone in a crowd of friends or family
pretending to reach out, helping hands slip away.

Worlds of end, never a beginning
eternity of downs, never a height.
Ever down, the mind spins following heart
depression crashing, crushing our poor walls.

Intricate walls carefully, painfully constructed
sad, meager protection...or so it seems.
Self esteem suddenly a cruel taunt or joke
a shattering, crumbling of even one’s dreams.

Resigned; perhaps welcome, this endless spiral
empty, helping hands knocked away in denial.
They can’t possibly, really want to hold or help
price too high; even in terror, or panic.

Only one hand offered could
catch, hold, lift and save.
A hand I helped scar with nail
a hand offered in absolute Love.

from his arm,

Dan,
Captured emotions so well, so very well here. Great write!!  ..but, if you speak of me, leave me with my ignorance...if it is self, I can't imagine no hands extended with a heart like yours...if it's fiction, essence of drowning is captured...
Your last stanza so so true as He is the one true friend on whom we can depend. All glory and praise to our heavenly Father! Ben' missing ya!  Marcy

"Only one hand offered could
catch, hold, lift and save.
A hand I helped scar with nail
a hand offered in absolute Love."

AND IT'S THE ONE HAND THAT COUNTS: THIS WE BOTH KNOW!

Marcy,
a very astute and insightfull reply...
the three part answer was especially significant...although the surface
meaning of "leave me to my ignorance" is
so muti-faceted that it escapes me.  I am
leaning tword the fact that everyone has experienced such and chooses to turn away
and not recognize these things as self preservation...lol for the same reason this
will not be a very popular piece; right, eh?
Yes this one came ripping out as a message
i suppose.  lol but no matter how hard i would like to label it fiction...i would be lying. Perhaps just a little more willing to share my dungeons than most...

Love you too, Sis

No one else really can help us, can they? Not really, even if they want to. Some things only He can do. Perhaps that is the way He wants it. I suppose the best way others can help us is to lead us to Him. Great poem, Daniel!

Daniel~
This holds a message that bears reading
over and over.
Thank you so much for the gifting.

This is a marvelous expression of faith, and a fascinating read, as well. Thanks for sharing it.

a very good read..lots of pain here..have to disagree a bit with some of the comments made here, or, at least their implication..I believe God helps those who help themselves.

appreciate all the comments, my friends!
another difficult piece to write, yet
rewarding. Going back in the recording
studio tomorrow and am going to try and
capture the essence of the piece spoken...
which is much harder than i anticipated.
