There goes that song again
Playing softly off the radio
Still, I wouldn't change a thing
If anyone had let me know
How much pain you'd cause me.

For a moment I find myself
Slipping back into the past
Sounds of a carnival and laughter
Love shining so bright it'd last
Forever, least that's what I thought.

Now, the beds cold, I'm alone
And you've moved on to someone new
The flashing rides drop away
Bittersweet tears fall because of you
And still, further back I go.

Stars shone brightly our first date
Two weeks later a soft kiss
Your voice whispering you'd be
The answer to my every wish
And niave, I believed your lies.

It was all getting better
Till the night you left our bed
And prepared to go to another
More what you did, not said
That's when the end began.

The song fades away slowly
The last strains of guitar
Call out achingly
Echoing notes play on my broken heart
Like our love, the song dies out.

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.

Congratulations on reaching 500!!
I equate love to seasons - remember the summer as it will warm you in winter but the "love song" never dies.

Congratulations, BWA, on 500!! Way to go!! You are definitely better off without somebody like that, for sure. It does hurt, though, for a time.

The song of the guitar may "FADE" out but the memory of it's beauty should never die...would be a sad thing if all the songs of our lives just simply died.  Wonderful writing and CONGRATS on your 500th.

That's a big milestone!  Congratulations.  I like the analogy of the music and the love fading out. Hope next time the song plays on and on.

To love another person is to see the face of God.

Jon, Thankyou..and I'm working on the next 500

Honey Bunch - Thats a lovely way to look at love.

Sol -    There was a moron who did that.. My ex-fiance.. Oh well...better before the marriage then after, right?

Denise -    I think so too...I'm working on finding a much better man.

Mark  - Thankyou...and I'll keep the fading out instead of dying in mind for next time..

kcsgrandma - Cheers to that

I am most impressed, both with the heart-felt pain in this piece and the fact that you've posted 500.  Congrats on that.  Just remember that morons are everywhere in this world, and it's the duty of those of us who aren't to try and show them the error of their ways.
