Do a LIttle Two-Step

Never let yourself be trapped
Into a corner of the room
Just do a little jiggle to get free
And simple then resume

Don’t let yourself be hindered
By another’s overburdened load
Just do a little wiggle and
Continue down the destined road

Do a little sidestep of a dance
That leaves them all confused
A simple two-step in a prance
And let their minds drift in bemuse

No one can tell you what to do
Nor dominate you evermore
Just do a little tap dance
And then wiggle out the open door

Do a little one step, two step
Jiggle ,wriggle out the gate
Loose the ties that bind your mind
And dance on out before it’s late

Feel the rhythm in your shoes
The pulse of life that sets you free
And do a samba or lambada
Waltz a waltz in ecstasy

Do a little two step
For the sake of your own dignity
And jiggle wiggle out the door
And live your own life happily

Liz do you want to start a CONGA line of poets....This makes me want to dance

Lovely light sentiment and true to life.

Wonderful Liz, the only problem I have is getting my feet tangled up....I'll try doing a side step and see if that helps.  Really enjoyed this one and I agree with Jon, makes me want to dance too.  My feet's ben' a little ancy lately when the radio's playing.
Love, Marcy

I so agree! I love this poem.
This is what I'll keep in mind tomorow at school...
"Do a little sidestep of a dance
That leaves them all confused
A simple two-step in a prance
And let their minds drift in bemuse"

Thanks!

Joy

Elizabeth,

Oh how I love to dance. I really surprise people with my ability to line dance from a wheelchair. A very dear friend of mine has promised to teach me to two step so then there will really be no keeping me off the dance floor. I havent been able to go to dance class for two weeks now and my feet definately are a tapping now with your poem.

Elizabeth-
This is great!  My feet are dancin' while
my fingers are tappin'...lol.    this is
not only fun to read, but makes a very
important point about following our own
hearts, and not being ruled by others.
  thanks for sharing this.

heart, you have not truely met the poet.
