Hear the song on the wind, Whispering gently through your mind. The music is without words, For mere words cannot express such joy. There is no set tune, There is only an ever-changing refrain. Off in the distance burn torches, Pinpoints in the dark night. In their glow lies hope, And in hope lies the future of humanity. The song comes to you once more, Lifting your spirits beyond finite flesh And into something more permanent. The ever-changing song remains the same, ANd the joy of life lilts across the land. "If you can't annoy somebody, there's little point in writing." --Kingsley Amis |

Exquisite poetry! Deep and so lovely. Ellie Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. eL |

"The ever-changing song remains the same, ANd the joy of life lilts across the land." If only more people could hear the song!! I enjoyed this piece - thank you. Helen |

I'm glad you all enjoyed it. It's one of my few "happy" poems, or rather, one of the few poems where there's no sarcasm, cynicism, or satire. All quite unusual in my work. "If you can't annoy somebody, there's little point in writing." --Kingsley Amis |
