Somewhere... out there...

blank...
the page
   stares back at me-
laughing at me-
finding humor in
   my silence
screaming at me-
daring me to spill
   my words...
      my feelings
crying with me-
feeling my pain
   sharing my emptiness...
      my void
comforting me
as finally the ink
   begins to flow
slowly at first
   and then a flood
until finally
the waters recede
   the pen is dry...
my heart
   now exposed
remains...
unseen by many
noticed
   by few...
blank...

While writing to express can sometimes escape the longing never seems to go away.
Glad to see your ink was found.  The blank page is now word bound.

Great piece.

viraynes, such truth within this poem...the hesitation to write just when you most want to...glad that you have found it within you to pen this one down at least

Vicky,
True, the page stay blank when the heart is silent, It's not until we're filled with joy, outrage or some strong emotion in between can we release to paper the ink coursing through our veins. Good expression of this in this poem.

Vicky~
Wonderful expressions of your thoughts.
I affectionately refer to it as my ink-of-think.

Nicely expressed, hon.

being blank means that there is so much room to be filled and unencumbered with anything... thus allowing you to write your sonnet of life.

Vicky; I applaud your courage! It's easier to walk away and wait for that inspiration,it takes courage and a leap of faith to put those first words down and trust in your gift. great job. Love, Ellie

Sometimes the verse can flow from our pens and sometimes it eludes us...I think we've all been there, vl, you expressed it very well.

It does take courage to sit down with that blank paper in front of you.  Sometimes the words can knock around in your head for a long time before they come out in any sort of order.  I'm glad this came up so I could have the pleasure of reading it.

This whole poem just sent shivers up and down my spine... It's so very true... My favorite part was

"my heart
   now exposed
remains...
unseen by many
noticed
   by few..."

Thankyou for sharing it with us..

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.

Wonderful verse from you and I will not pretend to know the poet though I feel I can safely say that your heart is somewhat a reflection of your works....but definitely not the whole real you I am sure.  Would be a travesty for someone to be painted so one dimensional as that....I wouldn't like it and I promise to never to read you that way....excellent verse...could go on and on but you are probably thinking to yourself....why is the cowboy just jabbering away...LOL  take care my friend.

m'dear...I know exactly what you mean...made worse by the fact that I like to draw as well as write...and play piano when I can..and when the " blank " just stands there...taunting...and then its over...the storm of creativity and passion spent..I wonder now...if the blank is just a warning...of genius to come...*L* or in my case senility or madness *L* ...thank you for your words though...they inspire...truely
