how close was i
     to heaven...
how right it felt
     to touch the sky.
i almost held
     a star in my hand--
but i blinked
     and the star fell away.
my heart turned blue...
my soul fell empty.

i must close my eyes
     to heaven,
recoil into the palm
     of my hand,
where only i will hold me--
and only i
     will know
the season of my soul...

A beautiful tale of the one that got away.  I hope the next one won't.

I really love the last line, wonderful poem

dg,
you write my heart tonight in this gem.
I love the gentle, longing in this poem.
it has a fragile sweetness about it
perfect expression of your emotions
take care, keep reaching for the stars...
sometimes we get lucky and one falls in our direction
jm

It's amazing
How you make your face just like a wall
How you take your heart and turn it off
How I turn my head and you lose it all ...
And it's unnerving
(How one move just puts me by myself)
There you go just trusting someone else
(Now I know I put us both through hell) ...
I'm not sayin
That there was nothing wrong
(I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me)
And I'm not sayin
(We ever had the right to hold on)
(I just didn't wanna let you get away from me)

She says baby,
It's 3AM ... I must be lonely,
When she says baby,
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes,
Says the rains gonna wash away I believe it.

Oh yes!  If only it always felt so right to both parties at once, and always stayed that way forever.  It isn't easy catching stars.  We just have to keep reaching, and maybe we'll stretch enough to make it next time.

To love another person is to see the face of God.
