"I really need to clean my den!"
Said the dragon, that's just when
A thought had struck him in the head--
To do the work—but be in bed!

The dragon hatched a master plan
To steal a good hardworking man
And have him do the cleaning chores
While the dragon ate some S'mores!
(Cooked with his breath, of course…)

He set up a trap, in his eyes were a gleam,
To capture someone when they’re deep in a dream—
And then take them here to the dragon’s snug home
Deep in the side of the massive huge dome.

Unfortunately the trap did work
And the cruel dragon (who’s being a jerk)
Captured a small, little innocent child
Whose strength was not great and abilities mild.

“Oh no,” the dragon said to himself,
“He can’t even reach this bottom shelf!
Great what now am I going to do?
I can’t make this kid finish all the chores through!”

“Uh, pardon me, Mr. Dragon, sir?”
The little kid said with a bit of a slur.
“Huh? What is it?” the dragon replied,
Then listened intently as the kid sighed.

“Right now I’m deep in the shadow of doom—
My mom’ll kill me if I don’t clean my room!
I was, uh, thinking…could you give me some help?”
Surprised, the big dragon let out a small yelp.

“Um…sure I will! But one little problem…”
“I’ve got lots, I usually solve ‘em!”
“Well, I’d like to stay at your house, you know…
But would your mom let you keep me, though?”

“I wouldn’t mind a dragon friend!
She might just agree to it in the end…
She’ll make some rules to follow and such,
But do me a favor—don’t eat too much!”

Eventually his mom did agree,
That’s how the kid got to live with me.
When I clear the room of dust and sand,
I always get a helping hand.
And then I remember the trap that I laid,
But all that’s forgotten right after we’ve played!
