The sun is setting once again, Late yet early, now yet then; The ending of day, a fiery sight, Strong yet fading, made way for the night. The darkness comes, it drags its own Blackest veil over many a home, Night so concealing, light so revealing Coming from those not alone. Violet closing on brilliant day, Put out the flame shining over the bay, And as the sand cools, slowly the tidepools Turn from light beige to gray. This is where my friend and I Found ourselves, out under the sky Watching and waiting, playful debating As to what we're on Earth for and why. Are we here to simply combine? Here to make the planets allign? We only can do what we see to be true Deep in the heart and mind. And as we rested on the sand We heard the sounds of a playing band, Quiet but strong, stacatto yet long, Echoing over the land. So then we went over there to observe The people performing; they did deserve A round of applause; yet unspoken laws Kept us in silent reserve. They sang a song, sorrowfully deep A song that would put you to fitful sleep, Restless and dreary, tired and weary, Singing of obscure defeat. They had fought, long and hard In a battle; they showed the scars Of trying to save some of us from the grave-- Then silence. They looked up at the stars... We now had an answer to our debate. We are here to help each other, We are here to love one another, To save what we can, take care of the land And treat everyone like a brother. Long ago, a man was nailed to a cross For spreading this knowledge. What a loss... It seems that some of those who have tried To do something good are often denied By those who grant only their own demand And those that don't really understand. ________________________________________________________ I dedicate this to all those people who have truly tried to do something good and were stopped for some reason from doing it. And to all of you here at Passions, you're doing something very, very good--showing each other kindness. Thanks for showing some to me. Little Spyro T. Dragon |

Wow Spyro! I really enjoyed this one. Why we are on earth is topic my friends and I have discussed many a time and this is one of the best answers I`ve heard. I really loved the use of colours and the other details. I think that gave your poem a strong sense of placement. I really felt like I was there too! Your descriptions at the begining were enough for me! I almost wished after reading this I had such a friend to contemplate such things with while lying in the sand. Just wishful thinking I supose! Thanks for this poem Spyro. Joy |

I'm also working on image manipulation and blending--I'm going to attempt to make a picture of me (the human me) hugging one of my dragons...lol I'll see what I can do with it, do you think I've got a chance? Little Spyro T. Dragon |

first off i'm gonna have to say that i enjoyed th piece and that i realy love the internal rhyme scheme, i like the way it makes the poem flow. now i know you did the line breaks and all to make the poem pause and to amphasize things but i still have a problem with it, a structured poem shoudl follow the structure through, perhaps you should try some other literary tachniques to stress the important part such as alliteration, or sentence structure. it's just a thought and i'm far from an expert. overall though i really dug it. rich-pa |

I haven't been in the blue in a while... but I've kept my "private library" intact--just going through it... revisting some fantastic writers such as you Little Spyro I've told my daughter (Echo Bleu) to read you--she just arrived in the blue. Inspiring... enjoyed again the read. g "...Never regret anything that made you smile..." |
