My Bestest Friend

Body beaten, dragging
pain in every joint
weak week finally over.
Barely making it home
work weighing heavy
and then...she smiles.

The cares and trials
of the cold, harsh world
drop away, forgotten.
All the problems
all the troubles
seem silly...she kisses.

Driven to excel
chasing unholy dollar
every, every, every.
Claw, bite, scratch
rung by painful rung
blessed anew...she hugs.

Garbage falls away
layer by layer by layer
the focus narrows.
Shack, sweet shack
my bestest friend
home again...she smiles.

bleeding...

"Tis ink coming
from his arm,
Captain!"

Great poem, all the things a great friend encompasses.  Everything else is trivial.  Thanks!

Daniel~
So glad your 'bestest friend' is home.
Enjoyed your thoughts and could feel your smile.
