I’m Not Perfect…

the only thing about me
that's perfect from the start
is the love I have for one
as it comes straight from my heart

my body is just slightly old
having little bumps and rolls
tho my age has worn it well
and struggles have taken toll

my eyes are not pure green
some gold and brown is there
but they smile and sparkle quite a lot
and twinkle with a comely flair

my arms shall reach out to hold
the treasures you would impart
I tell you true, the only thing
perfect about me, is my heart

for it is large, and would hold you close
and hurt? yes, that it has known
but never before the perfect love
until in my world you'd blown

for you came in upon a breeze
of word, and lift, and cheer
and while I may not be quite perfect,
for you my heart is so sincere

so if you are looking for perfection
from top to bottom, tip to toe
know that in me, the only thing perfect
is my heart, which loves you so

Like what you had to say here... to many people spend the time looking for their perfect someone... loneliness is usually all they find. Perfection in another can only be found when one is deaf, dumb, and blind to imperfections. Peace!

Very nice read, Karilea.
Perfection and idealism, although worthy of our human strife, are more often superficial and unachievable, eclipsed by the reality of our inner beauty emanating from the heart.
Honesty such as you have expressed here, is also hard to come by. Therfore:
"Vanity thy name is woman".
Simply does not apply to you.

and remember, being 'perfect' would be so-oo bo-oring!
It's our little faults and foibles that make us who we are! (Imagine a world of perfect clones...Shudder!)
