Somebody held my hand, while my eyes were crying
Somebody looked on me while my heart was sighing
Somebody spoke to me with my spirit trying
To make sense of this cruel and faithless world

An angel came to me in the cold dark spaces
An angel showed to me in all a million faces
She wiped away all my sorrows traces
I let her speak but I didn’t understand

And now I’m left with all this raging sadness
Left to swim in this torrent of madness
Perhaps she’ll return on my day of gladness
Return and open up my eyes ……..again

And now my soul is searching… reaching
Trying to memorise that angels teaching
But I can’t find it in vengeful preaching
Will not her love come back and rescue me

My hope lies now with that angel returning
So I can show to her all that I’m learning
For her right now my heart is burning
This yoke I’ll carry until she passes by

So if you see an angel ….weeping
It might just be when you are sleeping
Tell to her about this truth I’m keeping
Won’t you send her running back to me?

It helps to have someone there to lend on and support. The kindness and love your angel has shown will always remain though I hope she returns to you. lovely poem, really enjoyed reading.

Thanx everybody.

This poem was inspired by a stone carved plaque in a church in Dresden,Germany.

Just a man kneeling reaching out to a female who is walking away.

The message was a loss of faith conveyed in the single word 'Fallen'

I always feel very 'inspired in churches particularly when I'm alone.

Weird Hey.

Jon,
Your poem breaths of need, of pain, of vision, and of extended hope through help above and beyond.  As Long as you hold on to the last-- the others are bearable. A very good poem here in content & style,  David

This is so beautiful that I feel almost speechless. Yes, if I see an angel I will send her back to you.

I love this poem.  It's really moving.  I hope that your angel sees it so that she will know how you feel.  No angel worth her wings could ignore something this heartfelt and beautiful.
