The night had been for many years
Born in laughter washed with tears
I’m standing now in sight of the broken tree
This place is lonely dark and cold
You know it if your soul ….is sold
Lend an ear ……take a trip with me

The choking clouds are hanging low
The sky is lit with amber glow
There seems to be no hope ‘round here but wait
A winging figure…. in coat of gold
His finger pointing…...Icy cold
His hissing greeting ‘welcome friend you’re late’

He guides us down the slippery path
While he walks ….a mean low laugh
Then on the building a plaque that gave no cheer
The tablet reads in mildew green
The haunting words as if a dream
CROSSROADS COURT  ……all men pass through here

The building built in cruciform
The humid air was still and warm
The ceiling ‘rose as if it was a well
Surrounding in the centre there
There were four tables stark and bare
Four figures sat but whom I couldn’t tell

On each bare table just one word
They came as if a whisper heard
The reflections cast were hard to catch like life
But you know it on arriving there
And when you do…. take some care
The murky dawn cuts through you like a knife

We’re standing now on centre floor
Just ahead the huge oak door
The tables’ ‘round us like a cage of doubt
But once you’re in you can’t look back
You must decide your future track
Until you do you know there’s no way out

The first grey figure quietly stands
Fixing stare and wringing hands
Your conscience stirs a memory from the past
The lies you told were clever neat
On the table reads …DECIET
Like a runaway train your brain is moving fast

The second figure built for stealth
Like a cheetah sleek with wealth
Arrogantly his look cast to the floor
He offers now to shake your hand
On his fingers rings so grand
I wonder now shall we push …that door

Then the one with golden hair
Her face the moon just glowing there
Upon her lips a word so fresh with youth
Her gentle breasts. ……rise and fall
The song she sings a sirens call
‘Take my kisses listen to the ….TRUTH’

Her soothing murmurs fill my head
‘Here my song ‘ she softly said
‘Take these words and place them in your heart’
Her breath so sweet my feelings swoon
My falling tears caress the moon
The arrows swift I took her…. every part

And then like lighting striking home
It shook my soul and froze my bone
It seemed as if it took my every breath
The last lone figure drooling there
With sunken eyes and long white hair
In shadows dark the figure labelled DEATH

His leering grin so fixedly
Pointing to the broken tree
He placed his hands and tightened ‘round my throat
‘Decisions now ‘ his mocking chide
‘You just can’t run you just can’t hide
You have no choice you have to wear a coat’

The huge oak door creaked open then
Confusion raged in me and then
The road ahead it leapt to sudden view
The atmosphere was closing fast
I had to choose I had to cast
My spell to fate…. decisions what to do

Then the escort…… cloaked in gold
My trembling hand he quick took hold
It was so fast the crossroads now in sight
The thoughts now jumbled in my head
All the things those  …. guardians said
Truth the path I chose to tread that night

And if there is a lesson taught
By the angels …….in that court
That stands at the cross roads by the broken tree
There is no end there’s no way out
If your imprisoned with your doubt
TRUTHS survival……take a tip from me

This is not at all too long at least not in the boring way!  The poetry was written beautifully but read like a story.
But, I'm confused, wasn't truth the lovely woman? Guess I better read it again, this one makes you think!

Wow!  You are so versatile!  This is not only a good read, but a good think, too.
