Henry's Diary September 3, 2000 _____________________ Today I set out on a journey unplanned-- To find my home in some distant land, A place my ancestors came to hail, Long since reduced to myth and tale... I'm going to find that place, I will, Though I think I don't have the strength or the skill; But God will help me out on this quest, For guidance, direction, and needed rest... -------------------- Here I set out on a desert road, Traffic is light but the hours are slowed... I don't have a car but I'm walking the way that I feel may get me back home someday. The road is rippling 'fore my eyes, In this heat, that's no surprise... But what comes as a shock to me Is the sudden sight of a tiny sea! A pool of water alongside the street, Enough to quench my thirst in the heat! I stopped to drink, then had my fill And kept on going with strength and will... ------------------ My tail is dragging, my wings are drooped, The sun's really hot, and boy am I pooped! I think I'm going to stop for a snooze, A patch of shade is what I would choose... __________ - _____________ - *As he lay in blissful sleep, *Wings wrapped tight and dreaming deep *Someone came and beside him slept, *His promise to God to be held and kept. __________ - _____________ - ____________________________________________________________ Well, if you read 'Oscillations', you'd know where I got this idea from... I didn't read "Oscillations" yet, but I will try to find it. I thought this was a sweet poem on its own. Love things in the future that aren't all gloom and doom. Thanks.  |
