On a day in late November When the sky is chill and gray When leaves have fallen, and birds have flown And they are on their way It's time to bring the harvest in And give thanks to God for it all We give Him thanks for everything He's done for us this fall. So as we near the end of year On this Thanksgiving day Give thanks to God for all the blessings That He has sent our way. Elizabeth 11/98 Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of year...I can't stand the way it's overlooked, what with people putting up their Christmas decorations the day after Halloween and all. I really hope that you guys have Thanksgiving poetry to share too, I'd love to read it! < !signature--> You cling to your ways and leave mine to me. Suum cuique. ~Elizabeth [This message has been edited by Elizabeth (edited 11-04-2000).] |

I believe thanksgiving should be throughout the year, and HIS birth should arrive when he did...just the one day... we need to get our priorities in order... this is SO good, thank you for sharing... Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, then speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

Sunshine, I wholeheartedly agree. God should be thanked every day, not just on one designated national holiday. And the sad thing about the hurrying of the Christmas season is that it's all commercialized, Santa and presents and buy this and buy that, and Jesus is forgotten. Thank you for your kind words. Dopey-LOL! Elizabeth You cling to your ways and leave mine to me. Suum cuique. ~Elizabeth |

Elizabeth~ Such wonderful thoughts of Thanksgiving. It ranks at the top of my list also. The traditions set by each family are such fun. We gather the harvest and the family at this time, giving thanks to the Father for both. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Thanksgiving is also my favorite time of year. Christmas doesn't symbolize what it used to and we no longer do the tree and decorations thing. We have a BIG family gathering at Thanksgiving and Christmas is very small and intimate. This year Albertson's Stores are doing a thing where you can "buy" a homeless person a meal for 1.79 and it gets added to your grocery bill. I bought some this year and really hope that it makes a difference at the Mission. |

Amen to that! I love your poem.... And just so you know, my thanksgiving decorations went up before Halloween. I love the holiday as well..... I have many great memories. ~Sheri "The things that come to those that wait may be the things left by those who got there first" |

Elizabeth~ I really like your poem and yes, it's the time of year when we need to really count our blessings, not just long to see what's under a tree. Deb |
