I’m so glad you chose me Mom, that day long ago. So today is just the right time to finally let you know. I remember your smiling face, when I came into the house that day. And from that moment on, Mom, I knew I wanted to stay. You never hesitated to hug or scold; I knew it was done with love. You taught me many things you knew, for that I thank God above. It was hard at times for me, growing up the youngest one. But your warm hugs made life so good, made life for me so fun. You kissed each boo boo and made it well, and held me oh so tight. You listened to my tears and woes, and heard my prayers at night. You used to say “today you may be blue” to ease my heartache pain. “But tomorrow’s always new’ you said, and I was better again. I remember the time one soft spring day, when Henry gave you a bite You grabbed him by the neck and gave that goose a fright. To ease your wounded pride you gave him a mighty toss I guess Ole Henry learned to know, that Mom is always Boss. I felt your pride when I graduated, from the same college as you. It felt so good to see your eyes with love and pride shining through. You have been more than merely my Mom; you’ve counseled me so often Your advice has always comforted me, the hard times you helped to soften. You chose me Mom, so long ago; and this I know is true That if I could have chosen a Mom, dear Mother, I would have chosen you. **This poem was written for a very dear friend of mine. He is adopted and wanted a special poem for his mother. He has since found his birth mother and she doesn't want to meet him.. |

Your friend is very lucky to have you around. What a beautifully written poem. *sniffles* I awake to a world I don't want. There is no transition for me. I am in heaven. I am in hell. |

Thank you! I've met his mom and she's a delight...they had one natural child and adopted 3 more...all on a small teachers pay...but each child has grown to be a wonderful adult... |

I loved this poem, it has inspired me to think deeply about my Mom, and I'm sure a poem is forthcoming. |
