Love is the Answer

We read about it in the news.
Sad parents given chance to choose,
Decided gift of life should go
To daughter of their ancient foe.

Not ours to say who's right, who's wrong,
In war that has been waging long.
Violence will not end the fight,
But oh, a love like this, just might.

Now our own leaders speak of war.
Our loved ones' blood will flow once more.
Before our first heartbroken cry,
Why not give love another try?

A foe this year could be a friend
If we could only learn to mend
Our differences with acts of love
As taught by our own Lord above.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Joyce, it is so terrifying and saddening to hear of the plans on going to war and I too am against it, for violence will only lead to more violence where is every sep to peace can save so many lives and ultimately, slowly the world! (sigh) I too wish for love being the answer, sweet firend, if only others can listen, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Joyce, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

I agree! Love is so much better than fighting.

Nice poem its a great thought but i think we need to see that its not just violence but were looking to protect our future against this evil called terrorism. I think we should stand behind our leaders and remember that the greatest lover ever, God, even knew war was sometimes necessary. and i believe that this one is.

Joyce,
Why won't tryants(Hussein) just give peace a chance? This is a really excellent write. I do know that war can't always be avoided, but it seems some times more effort to avoid it could be done. Peace.

Yes, I am not so naive as to believe that love would ever change the tyrants but showing it towards the people of the worlds might be effective and these monsters wouldn't get a foothold.  Joyce

This is my first time in this forum and your poem was the first I saw... I really enjoyed it, it's so filled with courage and hope...
I read some of the replies and I just have one thing to say (to those who replied)...
while watching Law & Order the other day I heard something which caught my attention...

"America was built on the blood of the natives and on the backs of the slaves, and if they had put a plane through a building back then it wouldn't have been called terrorism, it would've been called self defense."
As I read the replies I found a lot of them were quick to judge Hussein, etc... this will certainly generate more hate, and I think that was not the intention of the poet or her poem...  Does it really matter who's right and who's wrong?  Human lives will be lost if a war breaks and that should be enough to avoid it at all costs.
Peace (please),
Succubus

Thank you Succubus.  I just have to wonder why the world is still fighting when God gave us the answer 2000 years ago. And a hearty welcome to this forum.  Love,  Joyce

Your lovely thoughts remind me of a line from one of my own songs: "Love will change the world and make it new." All we need is more people, like you, who understand. Thanks.
