Last night, my friends and I went over a hillside about 40 feet... we landed upright and were able to get out with just a few bruises. The car was even drivable, once they got it out.

I searched for You
In the high cathedrals
The beautiful glass
The orientation

But the building was stone
The glass was cold

I sought Your voice
In the biggest choir
The beautiful notes
Brahms, Handel, Bach

It took me away
But it wasn’t the same

I found You last night
In the screams
In the trees
As I called to You
You came to us
In the rock that stopped the car
In the mud
As I dug with my nails
To be free

I found You
In the girl in the rival school sweater
Reaching over
Pulling me out of the hillside

I heard you
When the policeman said
“You’ll be ok”
You touched me
As the EMT patted my back

I saw You
When our mothers came
Held us tight
Looked down 40 feet
At my friend’s silver car
Knowing what they almost lost
And what they gained all over again

You came to me last night

Most of us go to our grave with our music still inside of us.

This is very well written, and yet, it saddens me to read it... in some ways... and yet in others, I'm glad that you came out alright.

A brush with death, hm Erica? I certainly hope that you learned something about it, and that your value of life was affected by it...

What a beautiful testimony of your new found relationships with and in Christ. I love the details as expressed by you in gratitude for all of those who touched your life that night. You are so right my friend.... Christ is not found in things but in relationships. Again good job, God bless you and your family, and may you all continue to hold dear that which is truly important in your lives... one another.
