Dusk crept over the treetops,
As the sun gave an evening bow,
A single star cast down soft light,
As I sat in the here and now;
All alone on the weathered dock,
I pondered the battles to come,
Came down to the edge of the water,
To find something other than numb;
Darkness quietly settled in,
As the moon sent beams to the shore,
Two elegant swans moved with grace,
In a dance of gentle adore;
Bullfrogs called to each other,
Fireflies waltzed to their song,
Gulls overhead called their goodnight,
In this place where nothing seemed wrong.
A family of teals tucked in for the night,
Heads buried beneath downy wings,
Serenaded to slumber by crickets,
And a tune of the babbling springs;
Bewildered, I'd come for some answers,
To this dock, it seems our routine,
You meet me at the waters edge,
And fill my life with serene.

This is a place I'd like to sit and contemplate life. There is something so soothing and calming about the water's edge. This was truly beautiful. Thank you...Marti

Bonnie:  This is so beautiful and it makes me think about all the times I go to nature for relief from many things that bother me. There is a kind of therapy in being outdoors and observing the tranquility around you.

I can see it all, hear the frogs, even feel the coolness of that night air. We had a place on a beautiful small lake with an island in the center, in northern WI.  Many a night, I'd sit on the dock hearing those sounds. Loons nested on the island.  Your lines are beautiful as always, so picturesqe and calming.  Thank you.
