DYING TREES Now I look with feeling eyes and see their spirits die, disease in air - how can it be the trees alive now dead? A cycle interrupted not ere to come again and we, the holiest, see no message in their death. Leaf by leaf they shed belief in mankind’s honour code left standing cold and lonely on the outskirts of a life. Would they forgive and then forget our crime is their demise and grow again more beautiful in another time? Mournful is their cry of pain - eternally they lie trapped in lonely greylands of humankind’s neglect. Sad they bow out of our lives; mere fossils in the sand remain to tell the story of how we let them die. We did it with our deeds that never honoured words, with eyes that never saw and hearts that never felt. We did it ‘cause we’re human - who made us be this way and why must we know all this just before we die? “Because …” the angels say “because … they wish us all to live – us the cruel, neglectful, and couldn’t care a damn members of the human race living on this land! But if we care, what can we do – we can’t change the world or kill unseen germs we didn’t know were there so if we’re loved and cherished, why make us like we are with bags of shame upon our heads which forces us to kneel before our creator who gave us our free will??? Honeybunch, thank you for writing this. Not only trees die, but everything that evil man touches dies. Only Love can save us. Love with purity in land, sea and in the air. But all change needs to start with Love in our heart. God's Spirit of Love, the Christ! Because only a heart that loves will not poisen man's mind and lead us to continue the destruction of the Creator's glorious creations. Just trying to change man's behavior without his heart is futile! Honeybunch this is wonderful. Oh how I love trees, When we had our home built, my husband and I had to go out every day to the site and sit in lawn chairs to keep the builder from chopping down some glorious trees, just because they were in his way. One was a hundred year oak. I just love this poem so much..Have you posted it in #18? ![]() Floria |

Silver Streak - Thank YOU for your wonderful words. My heart has indeed been changed and I'm still in the process of integrating it into my behaviour. I'm getting there! Floria - One day I just woke up to the glory of trees and the tears streamed forth. Here there is a disease that is slowly killing conifers. For me this is all part of my spiritual journey so I've only posted it here but I know that everything I think about these days is all part of that journey. Thank you for reading.] Helen |

Whenever I see the unfavorable impact of man on any part of nature, it causes sadness. Trying to make people aware and motivated is so very hard. I really like your poem! Good message. Betty Lou Hebert |
