So carefully I built my house
upon the sun-warmed sand
I patiently plotted my course,
setting out my well laid plans

This structure would last forever
Finest materials were all I’d use
The perfect reflection of self-made man
Collapse was near but I had no clues

The waves of heartache came rushing in
Mercilessly they pounded the shore
So exposed to the world was all my sin
as life’s storms battered down my door

Helpless and hopeless ~ a drowning man
Who would have pity on me?
Then God reached down His caring hand
and extended His gift which was free

My heart in exchange for His mercy
was all He asked in return
A chance to rebuild my home
on a foundation solid and firm

So I gratefully took His offer
In my plans, I no longer took stock
For when Jesus, the carpenter, rebuilt my life
He built it on solid rock

Cheryl:  I like this so much. No matter what we plan, HE has to be a major part of it.

Floria, I'm so glad you enjoyed this. I wanted to write something using the parable of building on sand instead of the solid rock. Thanks, Cheryl

Betty Lou, thanks and yes, the best plans are the one He designs. God has the best blue prints for our lives, doesn't he? Cheryl
