This is what developed from listening to today's sermon. It was not politically correct. It spoke of the narrow way of following Christ. It spoke against 'all roads leading to God.' I just thought about the phrase 'all roads lead to Rome.' However, if Rome is not where one is headed, then one won't get there by taking all roads. Seek Not Springs Without Water The narrow way is hot, like walking on embers, for the unshod fence rooster- Cock o’ the walk, crowing the paths, two-stepping straddlers, push coals with wrath. Beautiful feathers bright, cheery songs- calling the day, touting they’re ‘strong!’ Scratching out routes with talons they own- Giving ways for the simple who end up alone. Alone without hope, alone, with but death to cling to, eternally, finding no rest. Yet, He, Who calls you, “Oh, come unto Me, My Father awaits you, come now, and see. Your yoke may be heavy till you release it to Me and stand in the waters where My Spirit sets free. For the way to the Father is by taking My hand following, believing come, take your stand.” ©January 13, 2002 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

"Come out from among them and be ye separate" I love this, Virginia. Love it. edit: and I'd rather be spiritually correct any day of the week. Virginia, what a wonderful reminder of following the path of righteousness. Narrow and steep is the climb but worth every step. Thanks, Cheryl |

VAS, (giggles) Oh my this poem certainly brings a smile as I think of those two-stepping straddlers who cock o' the walk as you describe. Sorry, but these remind me so stongly of TV evangelists ... Anyway, there is a voice that seems at times like the voice in the wilderness in comparison to the many voices who strive for our attention but certainly Jesus is the voice that we need listen to and the WAY for the world today and into Everlasting Life. Thanks again for sharing your Sunday service with us. -Bob |

Amen, sister! You preach it! I love the message in your poem and the way you wrote it. The imagery is vivid and leaves no doubt as to what you mean. I also would rather be spiritually correct than politically correct. Thanks for following the Lord and posting this. 'The way' may be a rocky, narrow path, but yoked with Jesus, it's eased and secure. You really get a lot out of the sermons. Does your pastor know this? Thanks for sharing. Rae |
