What Reason?

What could be reason for you and me;
where might we fit in?
From dawning of day
to moon’s closing in. . .
Might we charm socks off the sun
or give clouds a race;
might we dream of changing the world
and making a better place?

Might our lives touch souls that pass
hours, weeks, years;
might we give a smile or two
and wipe away some tears?
Could our hands rescue a life
or affect how a flower grows?
Could our words lift a heart
and nurture a tender rose?

It certainly must be that all things are possible
if endurance and faith prevail,
if one gives not in to struggles and pain
then surely one will not fail.
The cup of faith, the bread of life,
steps along the narrow way
shall bring one through the circle of life
unto a golden day.
