The Word Many times You read me Like a book upon Your shelf. Every time You pick me up, I can't think of no one else. You speak words to my soul Like keys that set me free. Go ahead and speak the Word That breaks the chains of me. Many times You hold me With warmth that heats a fire. I am so filled with Your love, I've none other to desire. You spark a flame in my heart Like a blaze out of control. Go ahead, Word, burn in me, Oh, Lover of my soul. Many times You make me More and more of who I am. I know that it is Your way To make me a Christian man. You lead me by example, Always going far ahead. Go ahead and guide me, now Through Your Word I have read. -Lighthouse Bob [This message has been edited by Lighthousebob (edited 05-29-2001).] |

You have beautifully made the Word a living, breathing Holy gift. I know His Word lives in our hearts, when we are open and receptive! Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

at first I thought this was a personification of the Bible, that the Word, the Bible, was speaking...then I decided it was you feeling as though the Word, Christ, reads you like a book. Which is more correct? |

Great poem.. I understand completely, " In the begining was the Word and the Word was God and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us" The Word works in and and through us. God and the Word are one. |

VAS, I really enjoyed reading my poem from the personification of the Bible.... though this was not how originally written. The "me" in this poem is actually written in the 1st person. Me is me... and yes the Word of which I am referring is from the scripture (John 1:1 and 1:14) as noted by our mutual friend Songbird and also includes: (1 John 1:1; John 5:7 and Rev. 19:13) Thank you for your insight. I think reading from both perspectives if very cool. Ellie, Thank you also for your comment. Yes, the Word is very unique from any other written material in that the Word truly lives in us and will live on forevermore. God Bless You, Bob <>< |
