I did not know that I was blind,
I thought that I could see just fine--
But then I found out my missing trait,
Walking by sight, I was lacking faith.

I did not know I was all that bad,
Until I saw that I had made God sad--
For of me, He truly cares,
Though I walked in pride's vain airs.

I did not know that I was a slave,
"I'm free enough, in the life I've made!"
But it took Jesus, for me to see the light,
I was a slave of sin alright!

I did not know that I was lost,
Until I heard of the awful cost--
Jesus paid to buy me back,
He did it to make up for my lack!

I did not know recovery's way,
Until I was under the Gospel sway,
Times of refreshing, New Life it is,
Now through the Gospel, I am His!

I did not know, I had so much to learn,
Now for God's Righteousness I yearn--
Love lifted me, and that's for sure,
Now I'm not ignorant anymore!

No Better Place do I know
Than where Hearts knit as
one,
For in that grand
experience,
The Better ALL become.

God Bless us All!!!

oh, David...this is pure humility in every sense of the word! He is the vine and we are the branches, comes to mind..Surrender is written here in every word and your heart and gift for poetry combine here to inspire and uplift our spirits to His shinning Love! Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

You have voiced what so many of us feel and can't put into words. Beautifully done too!

Amazing what we see in retrospect, isn't it?  Once we've committed to and realize the wonder of His ways, our past appears so childish.  You've done a great job bringing this to light in poetic form.  Thank you.
