Beside the lake, orange poppies grow Among the rocks. Their petals blow On windy days, across the skies, Like pretty, flighty, butterflies And in the distance, I can see What seemingly appears to be, An orange field that stretches wide Along the shoreline's other side. I always come here in the spring, Just for the joy that poppies bring And thank the Lord most fervently, For gifts like this, He gives to me! Lovely. This must look a little like our tulip fields. Joyce |

Joyce: Thanks and it is a lovely sight. It's at a lake in Nevada, called Topaz Lake and I couldn't believe how the orange California poppies have taken over the countryside. Betty Lou Hebert |

The orange "California Poppy" is the state flower here in CA and they do grow wild where I live.... they are a beautiful flower to make a beautiful poem. I wrote a poem about the orange poppies a while back.... if you would like to read, I have referenced my poem about the same flowers. What use of imagery, it left a beautiful painting of God's artistry. How thankful to be able to see such wonders, as I look around now, and the leaves are almost full, the lilacs are blooming, the tulips in full bloom. What a site. ![]() <*\\\>< |
