He Comforts Me He wakes me with an orchestra each day Of warbling and twittering of bird Before the sun has even beamed a ray I’m wakened by the sweetest music heard He gradually casts light into the room A sun that lights the world so radiantly That in its power it wakens every bloom And touches every petal savoringly He causes mist to rise up from the earth And cleanses me with hope and peaceful calm That I may face a new and better day As I drink in the early morning balm He warms my heart with friendships and with love To comfort me in times of stress and pain He gives pleasure to my eye and to my mind That I find beauty in the falling rain He’s surrounded me with splendor every day With rainbow colors in sweet floral hews Or icy wonderlands of crystal flakes A glittering mantle ‘gainst the heavenly blues As daylight fades he spreads across the sky A mural of the crimsons and the golds Reflecting off the clouds of opal white As the sunset of our day finally unfolds Then as the twilight comes, deep purple tones On pond and stream declare the day is done And so no matter what degree of pain Throughout the day, a hundred gifts I’ve won Troubles that arise in daylight hours That cause my heart to weep in pure dismay Are lessened by the beauty of the flower And wiped away by stars heavenly display And so I lay again in sweet repose And thank God for the gifts that He bestows The little stars look down and comfort me I fall asleep in soft tranquillity Elizabeth Santos |

Dearest Liz; The angels sing God's praise and you rival their voices as you praise Him with you poets pen that creates a tapestry of words woven with such beauty and exquisite delight. Love, Ellie Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. eL |

Liz, This is so beautiful! I found myself "feeling" this poem as I spoke the words aloud. What a wonderful job putting God's gifts to poem. Absolutely loved it! Marcy |
