The Alcohol Of Fame ~Marge Tindal~ 1999 When I hit the stage, a young man of twenty-three. They said that I could sing, it was in the heart of me. When the singing's done and I've had my share of the spotlight, who's gonna be there to remember if I lived my life right? I've been the 'Possum' and I've been the tire, I've laid on the road, under the influence of desire. They will remember my songs, but, will they remember my name, when they induct me into the Alcohol Of Fame? I've had many women, in my life I've had no shame. But who's gonna love me in the Alcohol Of Fame? When my songs are sung and I'm living off my name, who's gonna applaud me in the Alcohol Of Fame? I've come close to death many times in this game, but never closer than the Alcohol Of Fame. Oh, they're gonna put me in the Alcohol Of Fame. Give me a marker inscribed with my name. I'm gonna go down in the books of history as the old 'Possum', playing possum, in the Alcohol Of Fame. By the third stanza, I knew who you were writing about... when he does well, he is excellent. 'Nuff said. You? You're excellent all the time! |
