Forty Winks These forty winks, I long A colloquial today. It means that I am gone, Gone, but not too far away. A subjective impose One I dare no matter where Only a little doze. No matter the couch or chair. It's just a pinch of rest, A withdraw from boring things. A recollect at best. A slip into better things It is that little cause, Soothes my weary older life A helpful little pause But irritates my wife. She nudges me to blink I do so with vacant stare She passes me a drink And I hold it unaware. There is no harm in forty winks It's better than some forty drinks. |

Sy, I think many men take a nap with their eyes open while their wives are talking. It's the natural order of things. Good work. |
