You were the first to make me see by bringing me down to my knees The first to ever let me know by letting feelings freely show The first to ever steal my heart by giving each and every part The first to ever make me "feel" by showing me "it" can be real The first to ever make me give gave all I had, for you I lived The first to make me feel true Love and make it feel quite "from above" The first to break my new found heart by smashing each and every part The first to ever make me cry and wish and hope and pray to die The first to make me clearly see how "gone" a "gone" could really be The first to give, the first to take did you know a "man" you'd make? It took me years to realize it was a "blessing" in disguise But you're the one who really made the man that I've become today You're the one who gave me "heart" I did'nt have that at the start I could'nt "feel", untill YOU came I could'nt cry, until YOUR name I could'nt give 'till I recieved... all the things YOU gave to me I knew not Love, untill YOU "showed" I knew not pain, untill YOU "told" I was not whole untill YOU "gave" untill you gave AND "took away" Without OUR time I would not be all the things YOU have made me For all these things I still Thank You showed me I only THOUGHT I knew You were the first and last to see the "me" before, you "set me free" For all the things I learned from YOU I dont regret once Loving you You left and went to someone new to someone else who "needed" you But without this I could not be the man today, you've made of me. For all the Love, heartache, and "firsts" that you taught me... Thank You Jackie. ------------------ Life is what you make of it... Not what you let it be |

I think your poem is beautiful not only because of talent but because it truly came from your heart! I felt myself being sixteen again, realizing that my first only ended it for my own good. keep the heart! |

Aahh yes, I think we can all look back at a point in our past, and see that someone who first introduced us to love....and pain. This is really written with strong and heartfelt emotion. Very nice job indeed! Thanks for sharing....Chin up - and as they say, experience is the best teacher... ------------------ ~~ Lift your head high - spread your "words" and fly - - poetFemmeFatale |

dsnyder... Thank You I'm glad you enjoyed it devina... What a wonderful compliment... Thank You for your kind words pFF... Thank You too for your kind words My chin is up I am not down about this, but happy. Wrote out of joy, I realize how it was meant to be, AND why I owe my ability to express my feelings to her as well, that is one of the many things I learned from her. She was the best "lesson" of Love and pain in my life. ------------------ Life is what you make of it... Not what you let it be |

Thunder - Not often you see such wisdom come from a love that didn't 'work'... brilliant, by far ! The very idea of realizing how much we learn from others ... and admitting it ... thoughtful of you to share it. Thank you. ------------------ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Marge... Thank you so much, what a wonderful compliment... but realizing this took all I had, believe me!! LOL I was to the breaking point and back "many" times before I saw it like this, and wondered for many years untill I was ABLE to understand. Partially because I was only only about 18 at this time. But I have learned Once again, Thank You so much |

I skipped over this one before, and now could kick myself for not reading it earlier. There are so many excellent lines in it, I couldn't choose just one, but here are a few of the ones that touched me most: "The first to give, the first to take did you know a "man" you'd make?" "I could'nt "feel", untill YOU came I could'nt cry, until YOUR name" "You were the first and last to see the "me" before, you "set me free" Such a paradox and yet I am happy for you, it seems a man of much character has emerged. Thanks for sharing. |

sraet... Thank you so much Your comment means a lot to me, what a wonderful compliment. I thank you for sharing it with me Moon_stone... You should only feel happy my friend, I do... wrote this as a way of expressing that fact, and giving an example to others of a way to make this type of thing easier to "go through". Although there is no "easy" way, maybe it will help someone to realize that maybe the same has happened to them, just not looking at it like this. Thank you Dolphins3... Thank you very much, I am glad I was able to express something for you as well, I think many feel this way. I know I do and dont regret anything that has happened for a second |

Not often I post again, but you're telling me you were only 18 when you LEARNED ALL THIS? My friend, you are remarkable and she must have been one helluva teacher. Sometimes going to the rim, without going over it, is the best experience we are blessed to envision. Thunder - You've done well. Congratulations! ------------------ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Marge... I was 18 when "our time" ended {hers and mine}. We were together for about 2 years, and during that time I learned all the things about "feeling" and just about everything else in this poem I mentioned... It was'nt 'till about two years ago {I am 22 now} that I learned WHY her and I were together and what purpose it served to me {looking at it as all things happen for a reason and searching for that reason}... So I would become a more understanding person through it. Not a "reason" planned by her, or me, but THE reason for it. She knew all about Love and feeling and everything else, and was the first to "teach" me HOW to be able to "feel" all these things... which she did, wonderfully. I am eternally greatful for her doing that. That was the biggest "turning point" of my life... So far lol And yes, she was a GREAT teacher. Thank you for the beautiful compliment, and the congrats. I am truly grateful |

Then even more credit to your 'report card' ... I'd say you earned a passing grade from the 'teacher'. Way to go ! I can sense something great in your future. Good luck ! Keep writing. ------------------ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
