I come to share my poetic words, But I guess you're all off eating birds. Thanksgiving with friends and family Been awhile since that's meant much to me. It's strange this time of joy of cheer, Always brings to me a silent tear. Standing on the outside, looking in, Spending the holidays, alone, again. And I wonder do you even see the blessing, So many of you seem to be second guessing? When in this cold house just one warm smile, Might serve to make it all worthwhile. What you so easily take for granted, Seems a fairy tale life to me, enchanted. While your participation lacks volition. Loneliness is my only tradition. An unseen tear vs. a plastic smile, Today, neither finds reconcile. But how can happiness become a chore, With so much to be thankful for? I beseech you rethink the measure Of where it is you find pleasure. Share the warmth of loved ones near, Realize those who make life dear. Can you imagine Christmas all alone? Five years straight gnawing the bone. The world to give, no one there to receive. The deepest of faith, none there who'd believe. The purest of hearts, no one to hold true. The highest of hopes to have what you already do. No, don't fail to appreciate the life you are living, You may just feel the turkey, like me, next Thanksgiving. ------------------ Michael Anderson Loneliness isn't in being alone, Loneliness is alone in being. |

Michael: Sweetheart, you've touched me again and spoke my mind but far better than I ever could...you know one of the most common expressions I ever hear is "count yourself lucky you don't have children" and words fail me every single time. Big hugs sweetheart ------------------ There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it... |

Ah gees babe...you knew I'd catch you today - I promise you, that this will be the last year you spend any holidays alone. From the year 2000 on, they will be spent with me, and we will begin making all our holiday traditions for our family - - me, you, and our kids. I love you - - have been thinking of you all day...If you're a Turkey, you're MY turkey! This was a beautiful poem though sad...Know you are in my thoughts all day - and we will be together online tonight, ok? I love you. ------------------ ~~ Lift your head high - spread your "words" and fly - - poetFemmeFatale |

Michael, I did give thanks today for all my family and friends. I'm sad to think you spent it alone, but you need to know that was only in the physical sense. I know you are thought of by many for your kindness so our thoughts were with you my friend. You also had the most precious gift sitting by your side blessing you for your faith in him. You are a treasured friend and I am sending a smile to cheer your Turkey day. |

Michael, Hang in there! I know how holidays alone can feel. I have had 1 christmas and 1 thanksgiving with my family in the last 10 years. And yes, it is lonesome. More than others can imagine. Today when I counted my blessings, I counted 17 gathered together. Your blessings will come. ------------------ Yesterday is history, tomorrow just a mystery. And if today is good to me how could I ask for more? |

Michael...this saddens me that you spent Thanksgiving alone. Perhaps one of the main reasons for my depression lately. Thinking of the upcoming holidays and a definate change of routine this year. I was blessed to spend it with my entire family, a gathering of almost 35 people. It did a great to boost my spirits My wish for you is that this is the last holidays you spend alone. |

In this we are mirrored my friend. I have always done the family thing on Holidays. I wish for just a few to spend alone. ------------------ Now and forever, my heart hears ~one voice~. Michael I'm sorry! You know with God you're never alone! See even Gennifer said you wouldn't be alone anymore. I can feel the loneliness though and I'm truly sorry, but I'm thankful for you and your friendship!!! |

Michael, You will never be alone. At least know, that there are many who hold a special place for you in their heart. Yet, it seems to me that there is one person in particular that has a much larger portion of their heart reserved for only you. Kiss that lonliness good bye!! Smile. |

I hear you with an empathetic ear my friend. I was already dreading the upcoming holidays, and now after a terrible thanksgiving, I dread the next even more. |

Michael - While this touched me very deeply, I do have this to say ... can you imagine the smile you'd put on the face of a resident in a rest home? At least once every month, I go to a local area nursing/rest home. I read stories and poetry to the residents ... You want to think about JOY ... they are so joyous and then the spotlight shines in my heart as they break into smiles and applause. Lonely is different than being alone. Sometimes I like being alone ... but I'm smart enough to know that if I'm lonely ... I need to go find someone who would appreciate having a smiling face to see. Ends up ... I'm usually the first one smiling. Sharing lasts a long time. Take that left-over smile ... and find someone to share it with. God bless you. ------------------ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Perhaps with loss comes appreciation and with absence understanding...This is my second Thanksgiving since Dad passed away and I don't remember the first. Hopefully you will not be alone for long, until then feel free to call on me if you feel the need. ------------------ Once I was brilliant, now I no longer shine, but the twinkle in my eye speaks of another time. |
