Hello, I am a new member, and I hope that you will enjoy my poems. . . this is a first for me, I have never done this before. . . this is one of the first poems that I ever wrote, it was written when I was 19. Thanks! Sven "The Bridge Across Forever"* For years I looked for someone that I could call my own. Time after time I thought that I had found the right one. With hair like gold and eyes like the sun. But like birds leaving the nest, they flew away, and left me alone. Time after time I swore to myself, "Never again!" But then the depression would follow. Without someone in my life, I felt so hollow. And I would play the fool again, but the story always wound up the same in the end. As I entered the summer before my twentieth year, My heart saw a ray of sunshine. But my mind said, "Still looking for the one you can't find?" "Forget about your heart, because you won't find her here. But then I met you and the search continued. The topics for our first discussion flew by in my mind. But for some reason, turtles and frogs were all that were on your mind. And my mind tried to think of something witty to impress you. During the summer, our friendship grew. My heart kept saying, "This is the one! This is the one!" But my mind kept saying, "If this is the one," "Don't tell her 'I love you'." But then one day my heart said that it couldn't afford to lose you. My mind kept telling me, "Don't do it! Don't do it!' That was the day I first told you, "I love you". That summer will always be a treasured memory of mine. But there is one part That will always have a special place in my heart. When we shared our love for the very first time. And now, as I sit here across the table from you. I can almost see the tears forming in your eyes. Please remember that it's all right to cry. And as I take you in my arms, the only words that I'll say will be, "I love you." *written after reading Richard Bach's autobiography of the same name. |

Lovely, Sven. Some of the bridges we build last a while then collapse. Others seem to go on forever. Looks like your bridge will last forever. ------------------ Yesterday is history, tomorrow just a mystery. And if today is good to me how could I ask for more? |

Ahh...when we're young, we are impatient in finding the "perfect one"....we think each and every one we meet and love "might" be the right one.....**sigh** It takes time, and it takes looking and searching through many to find "them"...our other half. I compare it to a drawer full of mismatched socks, all thrown in there together...You have to sort through them, one by one...and sometimes it takes a heck of a long time - - but then BAM, you pick the right sock, and you've got a perfect match! 2 blue - or 2 black....You get the picture....we all just need patience! We get in too big of a hurry! Thanks for sharing - I'll hush now. And Welcome!! ------------------ ~~ Lift your head high - spread your "words" and fly - - poetFemmeFatale |

Sven - Lovely writing. When the 'bridge' collapsed ... you learned to swim ! Time to start building bridges again. ------------------ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Beautiful piece, Sven! I really love what you described here, especially the ending. It was incredibly uplifting and heartwarming. You wrote this at age nineteen? That's great, I hope to be able to write this well when I'm nineteen! Welcome to Passions in Poetry. I hope you enjoy reading, replying and sharing your work with the rest of us here! You are bound to be one of the rising stars of Passions, and maybe some day even be one of those big names, like me! ~Allan Build a man a fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life. |

Thanks Allan!! I'm really honored to be here with such fine poets as yourself. . . and, if I ever get to be as big a name as you, then I'll be doing pretty good for myself!! ---------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

It would seem to me, Sir, that you have made a wonderful name for yourself here. This makes me want to go on a search of many firsts by others here at Passions. A delightful reading of your heart! I am many. |
