Hope within the human breast- It seems eternal springs. Perhaps I tried to fly too high, Like Icarus with wings. I saw myself successfully Entrenched above the world. Dreams, and schemes, and theories Within my mind once whirled. Envisioned gain and glory- Friends and love sublime- Alas, ‘tis not to be my lot To my chagrin I find. I find myself reclusive- With no desire for friends When it comes to socializing That’s where my talent ends. In order to have friends, I hear A man must friendly be, And friend, to my dismay, I fear, That ostracizes me. Love? Why, yes.. I need it too, As well as female charms, And yet I find myself withdraw When held within their arms. A part with which I cannot cope- Does drive me from embrace- And tends to rob me of all hope, Here in my lonely place. Alone, why, yes. I guess I am- And thusly I’ll remain, Alone...a man, with my regrets Alone...my sad refrain. ------------------ Live large, people! ~GS~ http://www.geocities.com/montcogunslinger/HomePage.html |

I have read alot of your poems. I must admit, I am a fan. This one speaks worlds to me, for I have lost friends to lovers, and lovers to friends. |

Such sad thoughts.. Hope you don't remain that way for long.. HUGS ------------------ There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it... |
