This Pokey ... Is A Little Hokey
~Marge Tindal~ 1999

I put my metaphor in
I put my stanza out.
I put my sonnet in
and I shake it all about.
I do the haiku - haiku
and I turn myself around.
That's what it's all about !

You put you two cents in.
I throw your two cents out.
You say I write good rhyme ...
You are nuts, no doubt !
I wouldn't take a plug nickel
for the funny spots you tickle.
That's what it's all about !

You take poetic license
and you shake it all about.
If I don't agree with you,
you get mad and you shout !
But you'll be back another time,
with another onslaught to this rhyme.
I just know it ...
for such is the heart
of a poet !

That's what it's all about !
