                                                                   AGAINST THE ODDS

     A Tribute to “Medicins sans Frontieres”
         Nobel Peace Prize Winners 1999

The dogs of war are loosed once more - and as we sit and stare,
And ask “why are our brothers and our sisters dying there?
Then shall your hearts of courage rise, forsaking comfort’s chair,
As those who heed a soul in need respond...... “sans frontieres”.

When fortune sways as satan plays his part in every fight,
With innocence in blood assailed by military might;
With selfless, true commitment, they confront the poor man’s plight,
And pour compassion on the sea of conflict’s endless night.

Sacrificing livelihoods for any who should fall;
Ignoring harsh conditions to bring hope and care to all
That all may know, when hope seems lost, there is a helping hand
Which knows no bounds of race or creed, nor favours fertile land.

Uphold these arms of Christian love, for this is given from above.
That each receive his daily bread, these are the words that Jesus said;
“For inasmuch as you attend the least of these my brothers;
Then so you do this unto me..........................  as you do unto others.”
