It seems as though I have awakened in the morning, Having forgotten my dream of the night before, To see the barren waste where once stood, The dream of all dreams. But the caretakers grew weary, And could not tend the place where children once played, And dreamed, But the magnolia is tall now too, Amongst the weeds, Just as you had always imagined it would. The house has grown gray and weak, Covered in dust and webs, It shows all the days passed, Since you were there. And the mailbox, It still makes that same sound, When it's door is opened But it remains empty from day to day So many things remain as I recalled them there, But I cannot remember the dreams I had. How much more grievous are the consequences of anger than the causes of it. -Marcus Aurelius |

Sweetheart: Big HUSG...it is so good to see your thoughts again, even though so very sad...may the coming years be brighter for us all. HUSG Yesterday is but today's memory and tomorrow is today's dream... |

No weeds? I always find weeds when I go home. I understand you are returning, Nighthawk. Welcome back. |

Thanks Granny, RS, and RG... This is a very nice forum, and as you know...I don't get too passionate or too poetic too often.. but when I have a thought I'll be sure to post it here. |

Local Rebel - Sure stirred some memories here. The imagery of the mailbox is quite haunting. Ah, the magnolia of my youth stands tall in your words. Thank you for a look at yesteryear. Welcome ... ~Marge~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

The old home places change so quickly, don't they... as if they must fade away once the family is gone. Good one, feathered friend! |

This writing creates a scene so real it can be seen and tasted. Very nice work. |
