Opening the window of my memory And feeling the calming breeze, The scent of honeydew comes to me Visions of tall grass up to my knees. I dance in the hayfield, caressing the sky With outstretched hands and extended fingers Feeling the wind as it rushes by Leaving only the memory that lingers. I shout and wave to those I know Visiting in my solitude Faces come and as slowly go In and out of my interlude. I hear the laughter of those now gone Beckoning me not to forget Calling me onward, yes slowly on To places I haven't been just yet. A bubbling brook of sweetness flows Dividing the field to the sea And these memories are sweet I know And a part of what is me. Slowly backing through the window Closing the curtains to hide the glass And slowly now I start to go Leaving behind what's in the past. Knowlege tempered by wisdom...Wisdom tamed by youth. |

Wow, Robert, this one is very moving. The past will always be a part of us - but moving on is a neccessity of life. You have captured the emotions well. michael |

I like it...I often revisit my past and find it's not so bad in real life.. HUGS Yesterday is but today's memory and tomorrow is today's dream... |

This is wonderful, Rob. Ah, those memories, they are precious, aren't they. Reminds me of one I wrote. I'll repost it for you. I think I had it posted in Open#2. It's called 'I'll Be Along'. Denise |
