(Please hum the theme to 'Mission Impossible' as you read about the challenge). Good evening, Poet deVine. Your challenge should you accept it will be to write about a mundane, though tasty, everyday object. The Pop Tart! If you chose to accept this assignment and are apprehended, the Challenger will disavow any knowledge of Pop Tarts and Poets! The Pop Tart War It was known as the Pop Tart War And laughed about for years after But for those involved it was not A cause for jovial laughter Three friends shared a flat in town Becoming close as friends could be They spent so much time together Their friends called them The Three The Three, two men and a girl Spent hours talking about life The guys both secretly agreed That she would make a good wife One morning, perhaps in June The Three slept in that day Til one by one they woke up More hungry than they could say They met in the kitchen And began to chatter away But when she took the last Pop Tart That started the fateful melee “You always were a pig” he said “How can you call me this? You told me I was beautiful! Even tried to steal a kiss!” The other guy, dumfounded “You tried to kiss her too? You jerk! Why did you do that? She’ll not love a creep like you!” The name-calling went on Well into that Sunday night Bags were packed, cars loaded As they continued to fight In the middle of the night The friendship torn apart A mouse crept in and ate The last Cinnamon Pop Tart. Poet deVine Clever, funny, enjoyable Liz Kamla, A pop tart is a rectangular shaped fruity filled pastry that you pop into the toaster to heat. Now, you have the plain, the one's with frosting, and then varios fillings, blueberry, strawberry, etc, etc, and they are disgusting!. I buy them every week at the grocery store. Liz |
