My Favorite Waitress I admire a waitress that is pretty and sweet who works in a coffee shop on Lewer Street. She has captivated my attention by her sense to duty, and fascinates my heart with her natural beauty. Some of her customers are friendly and want to eat and socialize, while others are angry at the world and want to complain and criticize. Yet there's a common thread they will all share, a waitress will serve their food with care. But beware, if the food is not just right, some customers won't hesitate to give the waitress their spite. "Hey waitress, yes you over there, I wanted my steak done medium rare, now look, it's overcooked, where were you, don't you care." "Oh waitress, I ordered scrambled eggs, not runny, and please tell me why its raining today and not sunny." "What's the deal with this burnt toast." "Yuk, this coffee taste so funny, don't you have a fresher roast for my money. Keep this up and you will never see a tip from me and my honey." I admire a waitress so beautiful and sweet who works in a coffee shop on Lewer street. So if you ever find yourself in the heart of Waikiki, step into the Islander to relax, enjoy, and eat. All the waitresses are good to know, and as they give from their heart and soul, the restaurant radiates a warm and friendly glow. Of course, the cooks are also important, without a doubt, and the food selections and the quality definately stand out. You can be sure that management will provide a smooth operation, for the enjoyment of locals and tourist here on vacation. The decor is done in a relaxing island motif, although, more paintings on the wall would provide some welcome relief. I would recommend work by two local artists named Kimo and Walfrido, to grace the walls of this island retreat. Which brings my thoughts back to my favorite attraction, a waitress that provides excellent service and satisfaction. She's gregarious yet demure, alluring yet pure, and I'm proud to know her. If you haven't shared it with her I would think of doing that. It can be one of those thankless jobs! I bet that would just touch her heart. Very sweet it is! |

Thank you Denise and WhtDove for reading and commenting about my poem. Yes waitressing can be a very thankless and hard job. My friend Tina is very well suited for this job. She is very outgoing, loves being around lots of people, and she really gets into it. I've known her for almost four years now and she never ceases to amaze me. I'm going to see her today and she will get a copy of this with my Love and caring. James |

How sweet! Yes waitressing is a tough profession, and you really have to be cut out for it. I was a cocktail waitress/bartender for ten years. It was fun, but it was HARD WORK! Your friend sounds like a credit to all waitresses Great tribute to her! It's not the love you fear, but the fall from the height~Edwin McCain |

Thank you Poet deVine, Caroline and Pepper for your wonderful comments. It is my desire that this poem will warm Tina's soft heart. My first wife was a waitress for a period of time in her life. At one coffee shop she worked at everyone portrayed a character. She was "Betty Boop". She played the part so well people would call and ask for Betty instead of Beth. She also worked at Knott's Berry Farm as a waitress for many years. James |

Just an update on my friend Tina who is also my favorite waitress. I ate at the Islander the other day and Tina told me the poem was really good. She enjoyed the poem I wrote for her and also some others I gave her from this site by other writers. She also posted the poem downstairs where they post compliments about the employees. She told me her boss also wanted to see the poem because it advertised the restaurant. Also Tina had just found out that she is two months pregnant so her and Mark will be having a baby about September 10. 2000. I am so happy for her because I know that this is exactly what she wanted. I gave her a nice hug and congratulated her and Mark. Tina has been a good friend for me the past four years thru good and bad times and I really admire her and appreciate her friendship.
