Memories

Six months ago today
Was the day in which you passed.
Half a year ago you took
The breath that was your last.

Of course you've been remembered;
We never could forget.
You're still thought of by others who
You haven't even met.

You were such an example;
So courageous and so brave.
The legacies you left behind
Have not gone into the grave.

Each day when you were living
You awoke with a great smile.
Though crippled and in pain
You made your life worthwhile.

Your wheelchair and your problems
Mattered not at all.
Physically you couldn't stand,
But the real you stood up tall.

Although things are much better,
They'll never be the same.
You'll never be forgotten;
Your memories will remain.

What a beautiful tribute.
This took me back to when my Grandfather passed. Sounds as if it could have been him.
Thank you....you made me smile with a tear.

I, too, see this as an excellent tribute and a good poem, to boot.
