The years pass by us so quickly
Like a coursing river swiftly
From the day we are born until we die
We're here then gone in the blink of an eye.

But this moment is ours to hold
To possess even should we grow old
This moment that we can make last
This treasure that shall be our past.

And as the years go rushing by
Like the hurried flocks in the autumn sky
We'll hold that memory always dear
That 'moment in time' forever near.

And if my days on earth be done
Don't grieve too long, my darling one
Just reach inside your heart to find
That cherished memory, fair and kind.

Denise,
I love this poem! Yes, A moment can stand still in your memory, and you've captured it beautifully.
I love your work.

Reminding me that I need to savour every moment...thank you for that.

"Stop this day and night with me and you shall possess the origin of all poems,
You shall possess the good of the earth and sun (there are millions of suns left,)
You shall no longer take things at second or third hand, nor look through the eyes of the dead, nor feed on the spectres in books,
You shall not look through my eyes either, nor take things from me,
You shall listen to all sides and filter them from your self." >Walt Whitman, Song of Myself.

Pure poetry, Denise, as beautiful as always.
