Just thought I would write to say hello.
You left this town many years ago.
Behind us now are miles of track.
So many memories come flooding back.

I often wonder how you have been.
And if you think about way back when.
Things out here have not changed much.
How I wished you would have kept in touch.

The neighborhood is a little worn.
But still as cozy as the day we were born.
Across the street still lives Mrs. McGee.
Do you remember the day we papered her tree?

And those times that we would share our dreams.
And check out the guys in their tight blue jeans.
Doubling on prom night was so much fun.
The dating scene had just begun.

Then finally came graduation day.
And you decided to go away.
I don't think we ever knew
That all our good times would be through.

I went to school, then raised a family.
While you moved about with a new world to see.
Now, so much time has passed us by.
The loss I feel brings a tear to my eye.

Perhaps one day we can get together again.
Though far apart we will always be friends.
I'm sending this to the last address you gave to me.
I'm not even sure if that is where you will be.

Well I guess I better be going now.
And if by chance you get this somehow.
Feel free to call or drop me a line.
Becuase for you I will always have time.

I have always dreamed of going back to where I grew up.....to find all friends....where the begining of life began.  Even as I went back to that place....it was never the same....but the great memories always reamain.  This brings back those same memories of happy times....Thank you Eloise for the memories...the memories you brought back today

My best friend from high school and I have seen little of each other since those days... This poem makes me want to find her number and call her again.... Thanks...

I left home not too long ago for school...you can be sure I miss my friends. However, the memories are indeed precious.

I sing my tearful song which has charms only for me."

It's is a shame that we lose track of each other as time goes by. Great poem, Eloise! I hope this gem finds its way to your friend!

First Knight - you're right we can always go back but it's never the same but those memories do remain.

Nan - Your welcome.  Pick up that phone and call!

Sax - No one can ever take those memories away.

Hoot - Thanks

Denise - Thanks and you know I never sent it to her but perhaps I should have.  Just some thoughts that I wrote when she came to mind. It's been many years since I last saw her.
