On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me
One slightly wilted red rose in a mason jar.

On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Two hard-as-hockey puck biscuits with gravy,
And one slightly wilted red rose in a mason jar.

On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Three cups of really bad coffee,
Two hard-as-hockey puck biscuits with gravy
And one slightly wilted red rose in a mason jar.

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me
Four economy size bottles of Nyquil,
Three cups of really bad coffee,
Two hard-as-hockey puck biscuits with gravy,
And one slightly wilted red rose in a mason jar.

On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me
Five pink horse pills,
Four economy size bottles of Nyquil,
Three cups of really bad coffee,
Two hard-as-hockey puck biscuits with gravy,
And one slightly wilted red rose in a mason jar.

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Six hours of remoteless soap operas,
Five pink horse pills,
Four economy size bottles of Nyquil,
Three cups of really bad coffee,
Two hard-as-hockey puck biscuits with gravy,
And a slightly wilted red rose in a mason jar.

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Seven bills that came in the mail,
Six hours of remoteless soap operas,
Five pink horse pills,
Four economy size bottles of Nyquil,
Three cups of really bad coffee,
Two hard-as-hockey puck biscuits with gravy,
And a slightly wilted red rose in a mason jar.

On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Eight burnt Pillsbury Christmas Cookies,
Seven bills that came in the mail,
Six hours of remoteless soap operas,
Five pink horse pills,
Four economy size bottles of Nyquil,
Three cups of really bad coffee,
Two hard-as-hockey puck biscuits with gravy,
And a slightly wilted red rose in a mason jar.

On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Nine fruitcakes he bought at the mall to send as gifts,
Eight burnt Pillsbury Christmas Cookies,
Seven bills that came in the mail,
Six hours of remoteless soap operas,
Five pink horse pills,
Four economy size bottles of Nyquil,
Three cups of really bad coffee,
Two hard-as-hockey puck biscuits with gravy,
And a slightly wilted red rose in a mason jar.

On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Ten rolls of gift wrap(for the fruit cakes I guess),
Nine fruitcakes he bought at the mall to send as gifts,
Eight burnt Pillsbury Christmas Cookies,
Seven bills that came in the mail,
Six hours of remoteless soap operas,
Five pink horse pills,
Four economy size bottles of Nyquil,
Three cups of really bad coffee,
Two hard-as-hockey puck biscuits with gravy,
And a slightly wilted red rose in a mason jar.

On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Eleven dirty place settings..one got busted,
Ten rolls of gift wrap(for the fruitcakes I guess),
Nine fruitcakes he bought at the mall to send as gifts,
Eight burnt Pillsbury Christmas Cookies,
Seven bills that came in the mail,
Six hours of remoteless soap operas,
Five pink horse pills,
Four economy size bottles of Nyquil,
Three cups of really bad coffee,
Two hard-as-hockey puck biscuits with gravy,
And a slightly wilted red rose in a mason jar.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Twelve kids with colds, at our Christmas party,
Eleven dirty place settings...one got busted,
Ten rolls of gift wrap (for the fruitcakes I guess),
Nine fruitcakes he bought at the mall to send as gifts,
Eight burnt Pillsbury Christmas Cookies,
Seven bills that came in the mail,
Six hours of remoteless soap operas,
Five pink horse pills,
Four economy size bottles of Nyquil,
Three cups of really bad coffee,
Two hard-as-hockey puck biscuits with gravy,
And one slightly wilted but, nonetheless beautiful, red rose in a mason jar.

I laughed.  In such a fast and crazy world, it's nice to have the little things appreciated--like roses in mason jars.  Your words fall on paper as brightly as petals.
