Somewhere, Someone, Someday

Somewhere a lonely child cries
Hungry in the night
Somewhere a body sick and tired
Is giving up life’s fight
Somewhere a man is begging
With no shoes upon his feet
Somewhere another teen is killed
On a darkened city street
Somewhere a new disease’s discovered
For which no cure is found
Somewhere another bomb goes off
Leveling houses to the ground
Somewhere a grieving mother cries
And curses God above
Somewhere another heart is broken
In the name of love
Somewhere a simple prayer goes out
That this world might someday be
Somewhere that we can together live
Our lives out peaceably
Somewhere someone’s making changes
Let them be for good
Somewhere, someone has to start
Perhaps my friend, we should

"When you come to the edge of the light which is all you know. And are about to step off into the darkness that is unknown...Faith is knowing one of two things will happen...there will be something to stand on...or you will learn how to fly." -Unknown

Dear God...please give me wings!

Excellent sentiments, Ruth, expertly expressed. Yes, we should. I'm ready. Are you?..........and the rest of you?

To the world you might be just one person but to one person you might just be the world.

Loved it hoot_owl_rn. The last two lines should hit home. If only we could do this I believe we would see a better world someday.

Superb!!!..and yes, I guess we all make whatever small changes we can, however we can but there is no disputing that 'teamwork' is best, perhaps even formidable..

How delighted I am with these thoughts

We all get daunted a little by the enormity of it all. But we can all help in our own small corner, my friend. Liked this a lot - and you have a caring heart.  K

Wonderful message Ruth and you delivered it well!  As the song says "it only takes a spark to get a fire burning".

 It matters not how strait the gate;
How charged with punishments the scroll;
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Hoot -
I have.
Peace and harmony
are our for the taking.
Changes wrought
by our own making.

Thank you for a BEAUTIFUL poem.

If my day begins with you,
I shall always wear a smile.
For if the day ends with you,
It will always be worth the while.

Knowing you care for this world,
Is more than I could dream.
Knowing you care for my life,
Is more water to my stream.

You care so much for this world,
Helping others while you can.
Just by knowing you I can see,
I want to hold your hand.

If helping you help this world,
Can make this a better place.
I offer life,my service to you,
So that you can live in grace

My start to the world that needs you Ruth.  Love such as yours....brings the world light and love     Touching poem   < !signature-->

A wonderful poem! It covers a wide spectrum in a relatively short time, and leaves almost no stone unturned. In the words of Barry Manilow - "All it takes is one voice"
